About Personal Trainers

I think that personal trainers are great. I think everyone should try out life with a trainer at least once. They are perfect for those who lack motivation and/or time in their day. If you set an appointment and pay for it, you better believe that you would make time for the gym!

Or maybe you are clueless about fitness, and you need someone to lead you in the right direction. It will help to meet with someone in person, who can demonstrate different exercises to you and tell you what you're doing right (and what to change). Talk about a confidence builder! Then, once you have the tools you need to keep up a routine, you can leave the nest and fly solo. Or, you can keep your trainer if you prefer someone to stay on your butt during every workout.

Not only will trainers customize a routine for you, but they will get on you when you begin to slow down. Also, they expect you to show up for weigh-ins and measurements every so often (typically monthly, or at the end of a set of sessions if you bought only a few). This helps you to keep track of progress in ways you wouldn't have otherwise. Most of them also check your body fat composition.

And there are so many different plans out there; some gyms offer a once monthly session where you are weighed and measured to check your progress. Then, the trainer will take you through a new routine for the next month so you don't get bored. You still stay motivated because you know you have to face your trainer, and the scale, at the end of the month.

But if you're like me and you can't afford a trainer right now (wouldn't it be nice!), then you can only rely on the internet, books, magazine, and possibly even experienced friends to help you come up with new and interesting workouts. And of course that is where the purpose of New Baby / New Body comes in....
