I just got my first kettlebell. I haven't had a chance to look up all the exercises you can do with them, but I did look up the basic swing and started incorporating it into my workout. I can't do certain things because of my back, but this is something I can do. You're standing, and you keep your back straight. I was definitely sore the next day just from doing the swings. I didn't even need other exercises that first day. And because it works many different areas in one move, I was sore in all those areas. It is harder than it looks, too.
Kettlebells can be expensive, so I bought one of the lightest one to start out with. I think it was 9 pounds, and I'm pretty sure it cost me around $15. Anything heavier was $20 and up. But it is worth it. If you're limited with space, time and money, you could just get one or two kettlebells (some exercises use two), and maybe even a corresponding exercise video and get all your cardio and strength training done in one short workout.
Have you ever used them? Notice any difference? Leave me a comment and share your experience!
