Weekly Workout- Take a Walk


I'm sure most of you will be spending a lot of time with family over the holidays, which means less time for other things. Like exercise. So instead of being a Scrooge and leaving your family to work out, why not include them?


Lately, the days have been so nice here that I have been taking my son on walks in the stroller in the afternoons. Sometimes those walks replace my workouts on the elliptical. And my son absolutely loves being outside, so it's a good experience for both of us.


However, it doesn't snow here, so I don't know if this is plausible in a snowy area. If it isn't, maybe you could go to a shopping mall and walk the outer perimeter if it's too slushy for a stroller around your house. And while you're at it, why not take your husband, or mom, or sister, or entire family, out on the walk with you and baby? It's a way to get everyone active, and it will feel much better than sitting around drinking egg nog. And it will give you time to bond with your family. Sometimes a large group will slow you down, so if you're out to get some good exercise, bring someone who's fit enough to keep up.

Walking is great exercise, and exercise is certainly something pregnant women should be getting.
